Toby Benoit is a native Floridian with a love of turkey hunting and turkey call making.  Raised on a small farm in a rural community, he has gone on to lead a life of diversity and achievement.  Professionally, he has worked in customer service for Satellite Archery, a warranty department trouble-shooter for Golden Eagle Archery and spent many years as a bowhunting expert for Arrowhead Archery Shops.  He has worked as a hunting guide for Archery Outfitters Hunting Services, The Seminole Tribe Of Florida/Big Cypress Hunting Adventures, and Rebel Yell Outdoors.  Toby has become a well-known outdoorsman and call maker who receives regular invitations to appear at outdoor shows and seminars.  His signature call, the  “Rebel Yell” box call is currently one of the South’s top selling turkey calls.  At the urging of Brian Warner, Toby has brought his "Rebel Yell" box to the Heirloom turkey call inventory and has become a member of the Heirloom Turkey Call staff, assisting in the development, production, and marketing of a new line of box calls that are taking the turkey call industry by storm.  All of this background and exposure in the turkey hunting community makes Toby Benoit, an important part of the Heirloom team.  He began his writing career in 2002 after succumbing to a peripheral vascular disease.  With his mobility severely affected, he found became forced to make major changes in his professional life.  Soon after realizing the therapeutic value of writing, he penned Caloosahatchee, his first novel written in the manner of a “Cracker Western”, which he quickly followed up with Shootoff!, the first ever novel dedicated to the shotgun sports, and the newly released Debalo, which gives the reader a look at the Florida frontier during the Second Seminole War.  Soon after the success of his first two novels, he began gathering the stories for his next book Been there, done that!, a compilation of short stories told by turkey hunting’s most well known veterans; Dick Kirby, Eddie Salter, Dennis Carlton Jr., and Toby Benoit with a special section dedicated to turkey calls and call makers. Currently, Toby remains a member of the editorial staff of Outdoor Sports In The Southeast Magazine and the popular Woods & Waters Magazine and operates as a press stringer for the National Wild Turkey Federation. In addition, he also serves as a forums moderator for the popular outdoor discussion boards of the Ohio Camp Cooks and the Smart Hunting Strategies websites. He currently resides in Citrus County, Florida surrounded by family and friends.  He is a a member of Temple Terrace Masonic Lodge #330, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Wheelin’ Sportsmen NWTF, The National Rifle Association, Florida State Coon Hunter’s Association, East Pasco County Coon Hunter’s Association, The United Sportsman’s Alliance, The American Trap Shooter’s Association, The North American Hunting Club and The National Field Archery Association.
