As the parents of a fifteen year-old high school student, Wayne and Rachel Franklin knew that to help keep their son out of trouble, they needed to keep him occupied. As an athlete, Wayne recognized the valuable lessons to be learned in competitive sports, while Rachel looked for an activity, which dealt with personal growth, discipline, and one that wouldn’t put her son in harm’s way.

After much searching, Wayne discovered the youth team at the Silver Dollar shooting club, near their home in Tampa, Florida. Both parents agreed that the shooting sports would be ideal for their son, Jesse, who had always had an interest in the outdoors and firearms. Also, the shooting sports demand personal growth and discipline and are ranked among the safest in the nation. After a quick tour of the club and a meeting with the coach of the competitive youth program, Jesse’s parents introduced him to trapshooting.

This book, written for young adults, tells about Jesse’s introduction to the sport of trapshooting and his desire to compete in the national tournament in Ohio. Along the way, Jesse learns more at the shooting club than how to shoot trap, he also learns about responsibility, first-loves, patriotism, and building friendships to last a lifetime.
